Don Henley. The region is also the home of Hank Williams, Tracy
Lawrence, Collin Raye, Kix Brooks, Glen Campbell, the Pointer Sisters,
George Foreman, and the Louisiana Hayride.
Major tourist attractions in the area are Historic
Jefferson (26 miles south of Atlanta), Atlanta
State Park, President
Clinton Birthplace National Historic Site in Hope, five
casinos in Shreveport-Bossier, and Louisiana
Downs racetrack in Bossier City.

Visitors to the quaint town of Jefferson step back in time, to one
of the most historic communities in Texas. Once the largest inland
port in Texas in the mid-1800's, Jefferson was a major steamboat
port along the Big Cypress Bayou. Jefferson provided the transportation
link for cotton and timber exporters to New Orleans and other locations
along the Mississippi River. Today, walk the brick downtown streets
and you can feel the history behind this great town. Historic renovated
buildings, over 25 antique shops,the famous Excelsior Hotel and
Jefferson Hotel, 50 Bed and Breakfasts, and dozens of national historic
sites excite East Texas travelers.
